Definitely. I recommend starting with my articles detailing what are ranking factors and what aren’t ranking factors.

SEO Tools and Resources
Go check out my comprehensive SEO toolbox to find many of my favorite tools. I recommend bookmarking that page as a resource as I update pretty regularly.
With these tools in my SEO toolbox, you can learn a lot about where you’ve been, where you’re at, and how to get to where you want to be. Keep in mind that these are just tools. And they are only effective when used effectively. This is really where your ability to problem solve, fix things, and think creatively and strategically comes into play.
For beginners, explore a variety of beginner-friendly free tools and resources in the dedicated section of my SEO Toolbox. If you’re new to SEO, start with Google Search Console. GSC is telling you exactly how you are doing in the search results. What is your visibility? What queries are you showing up for? Is anybody clicking on your result? And, what position are you coming in? Even more than that, GSC will help you see if Google is finding your pages and indexing them. It will tell you why if not.

Using AI in SEO
As historically has been the case, to succeed at SEO, you need to be flexible. And, with the advent of AI, it’s no different. You need to adapt or you will be left behind. Right now, SEOs are working to reverse engineer the algorithm to learn how to achieve visibility in AI responses. Moving into 2024, creating and optimizing content for AI is going to be a necessity. You can learn more about integrating AI into SEO in my article Generative Engine Optimization: Maximizing Visibility in AI.
There are many advantages of AI in SEO. It can help you with keyword research. While it won’t provide rankings data, it can help you discover related ideas to research in other tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs. it can also help with content creation, data analysis, and much more.
For a beginner SEO, AI can be a real benefit to learning what you need to learn. For example, if you want to learn technical SEO, you can ask your favorite AI to provide a framework for learning it.
I do not recommend using it to do actual SEO work like writing complete articles or blogs. There’s already a glut of AI-created content that provides no value to the reader. You can learn more about AI and SEO in my guide, Elevate SEO with ChatGPT: A Comprehensive Guide.

General SEO Queries
SEO, which is short for Search Engine Optimization, is all about establishing and improving your visibility in the organic search results. It’s also about providing information. It’s also about encouraging the searcher to take action.
A common myth I still see talked about is keyword density. Unfortunately, this gets reinforced by some tools like Yoast which provide a recommendation based on length of content and how often the keyword is used. You can read my article about SEO myths if you like.
As far as a fact, links are very important. I’m talking about how you link within your site; how you link to external sites; and how external sites link to your site. One of the ways search engines find new content is through links. Linking to other sites, for example, as a reference in one of your blogs, is a form of trust building. Other sites linking to your site is a vote of confidence…provided the linking site is reputable. Explore more key SEO ranking factors.
Well, many reasons could play into this, such as Google updates, changes in business goals, changes in available resources, the introduction of new technology like ChatGPT and Google’s Search Generative Experience, and more. At minimum at least review the strategy quarterly to see where things are at on the business’s side and what’s working and not working.
There are somewhere between 100 and 200 or so ranking factors Google utilizes. Some of the ones we know to be accurate are the content itself, page titles, headers, keywords, mobile friendliness, and many more. Read the full list of confirmed ranking factors based on Search Engine Journal’s findings.
